    This CIT Academy is a forty-hour course of instruction that is completed in a one-week session.

    The objectives of the CIT Academy are to:

        Increase officers' awareness of behavioral health issues and empathy of individuals experiencing behavioral health disorders.

        Instruct officers in effective techniques utilized when encountering individuals experiencing behavioral health issues and provide safer interventions.

        Broaden officers' knowledge of resources and understanding of legal issues.

        Assist officers with understanding how to provide the most appropriate resolutions.

    Peace Officers who successfully complete this training and pass all required testing will be recognized by the State of Utah as a CIT Officer.  

    Non peace officers that successfully complete this training will receive a certificate of completion.

    Due to some physical aspects of this academy, peace officers on light duty will not be allowed to attend.

    Tuition for this Academy:

    $75 for Peace Officers of agencies within Iron, Washington, Kane, Beaver, Garfield Counties.

    $75 for Peace Officers of agencies outside of those counties.

    $200 for Peace Officers and Civilians outside of the State of Utah.

    $75 for all Civilians (within the State of Utah).
