Chief Darin M. Adams is the Chief of Police of the Cedar City Police Department. Chief Adams has over eighteen years of experience as a law enforcement officer. He has experience with nearly every aspect of law enforcement and possesses a deep desire to further the profession’s efforts in a progressive and forward-thinking approach.
Chief Adams is a certified CIT officer of ten years and has served as the CIT Regional coordinator since Iron County’s inception of the program in 2009 until his appointment as Chief of Police. It is his desire to work in a collaborative partnership with key stakeholders in a united effort to sustain and improve upon Utah’s efforts in Crisis Intervention Team training. Chief Adams is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Utah and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration/Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
Chief Adams is committed to the CIT philosophy and program within the nation and the state of Utah. He is passionate about the difference CIT has made and continues to make in the lives of mental health consumers and those facing crisis situations. Chief Adams has worked diligently over the past year in cooperation with the Iron County Attorney’s office to implement Iron County’s mental health court, which is fully functioning. It is his distinct privilege to be an inaugural board member of CIT Utah, Inc. and to serve as the southern region State CIT Coordinator.
