De-escalation Training for Law Enforcement, Intervention Strategies, focuses on four principles of safety.  Along with prioritizing the essential need of officer safety, the principles emphasize safety of all persons involved and safety of the community.

In receiving this training, law enforcement officers will learn or review the same techniques instructed in the CIT Utah Academies.

These techniques assist officers with responding effectively, interacting rationally, and remaining calm in emotionally charged situations.

Officers will also learn how to recognize hooks and triggers as a method to create empathy and establish a resolution. Additionally, officers will learn simple acronyms that will contribute to quick and effective implementation of skills that can be used to safely guide officers' decisions, judgment, and actions in these emotionally charged situations.

This course is taught in a high-energy, casual, and interactive format.

The instruction incorporates interactive lecture and live scenario based training to allow practice and/or observation of the techniques presented.
